How does talkingarmy work?

The whole idea behind a talking army is to get the right things said to the regulators by the people.

'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."     -Margaret Mead

At every meeting, the polluter gets anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes for their "presentation" and the public is given 3 minutes a piece.  This is how it works, so it is crucial that we have people talking and making the statements that need to be made.

It's your right to know, so ask!

Three Minutes:
  1. Three basic points that need to be corrected which address the whole site.
  2. Three basic points that apply to the specific meeting agenda item
  3. save the last minute for response to the presentation given by the polluter.

Always say who you are and where you live.  It does not matter if you live farther away but try to add a brief sentence of why it's important to you.

Talking Army wants you!

It's just three minutes, but those three minutes can change the course of the way this goes.  It is usually the new people with fresh perspectives that wind up making a really important point at a meeting because they are looking at it with less personal baggage attached.

How to be heard at the mike and making your 3 minutes count!

Let us help you with some basic things that need to be said every time, at every meeting

Rule of thumb, hit three important points in your first minute example:

  1. EPA needs to be the authority on the cleanup
  2. Boeing should not be allowed to do their own tests on their own schedule.
  3. It has been shown that filtering samples lowers the results.  You've been told to use EPA protocols with regard to filtering.  Now you need to follow the law.
