Original Press Release from October 12th -- We've made a bit of progress since the original signing of the bill:

Governor's Press Release

Senator Keuhl's Letter to the Governor

Summary of Letter of Intent (Important note: We have not seen the ACTUAL letter, only a summary of the letter.   As Dan points out, the devil is usually in the details.

Amendment Language  Remember this is the Governor's Office language which appears to cut much deeper into the bill than the language in the letter from Senator Keuhl's letter suggests.  We hope the Senator will remain firm with the language more consistent with the "summary of the letter of intent."  This is a slippery slope and we will vehemently oppose any legislation that takes it one inch beyond our understanding of this agreement, and all of its' elements.

Read the bill's history here.  Read the actual bill here.

We need to ask questions right now about how this is being done and exactly what role the public will have in how the agreement between Boeing and the State of California is forged.  Secretary Adams suggested in today's newspaper article that that site cannot be cleaned to EPA standards.  How can she know this, if the RCRA process of full-site characterization isn't expected to be completed until 2017 by her agency.  It seems terribly early to throw in the towel on such an profound decision that will impact generations to come.

Please come to the workgroup meeting on October 18th and make your voice heard.  Tell our state, that they can't freeze out the public from this process.  Not now, no way!

Tell them why this is so important to you.  Remind them that they will face these problems in their own back yard.  This stuff has to be done right.  You can't fix it if you don't take an honest look at the problem.
